Eat Well and Travel Often with Eatwith

Our theme this month is Eat Well, Travel Often which provided us with the perfect opportunity to sit down with the Jean-Michel Petit, Co-Founder and CEO of one of our most unique travel partners, Eatwith.

Q: Tell us a little bit about Eatwith and what the company offers.

Eatwith is the world’s largest curated collection of unique culinary experiences. Our expert local hosts offer supper clubs, pop-ups, cooking classes, food tours, and private events in more than 130 countries around the world.

Q: What is Eatwith’s main goal and what does the company hope to accomplish?

We are hugely passionate about the concept of social dining, and we want to share it with the world. Our goal as a company is to bring people together with food – we believe that the dining table is the original social network, and that the best way to get to know a place and a culture is through the magic of food and the people who can share its stories!

Q: With Eatwith, is the only option to eat in a stranger’s home?

While a portion of the experiences we offer take place in our hosts’ homes, there are also many opportunities available that take place in iconic venues the hosts have found – whether these are pop-ups or cooking classes. And, to discover the local secrets on our food tours, the “venue” is the streets of the city our guests find themselves in!

Q: In which locations does Eatwith currently offer experiences?

We offer experiences in over 130 countries around the world, with our most popular destinations being France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel, the U.S., and the United Kingdom. We recently launched in Scotland and are constantly adding more experiences in new locations.

Q: For travelers looking for a truly immersive experience, what do you recommend?

All of the experiences our team curates are designed to immerse our guests in the culture and place they find themselves in, and our hosts have a lifetime of stories, recipes and anecdotes to share. The feedback we receive from our guests shows that they leave our experiences feeling as part of the host’s family – which is as immersive as you can get!

Q: For first-time Eatwith customers, which type of experience would you recommend most?

A supper club would definitely be the best way to first experience social dining, and once you’ve tried one, it will be the only way you want to eat out! The opportunity to meet with local hosts and fellow diners, sharing stories, and enjoy authentic local food is not to be missed.

Q: BONUS: Is there anything else you’d like travelers to know about Eatwith?

If you’re travelling with your family or a group of friends, many of our experiences around the world can be booked privately. This is a great option if you want to tailor the experience to your occasion.
