Heinke McDade is the founder and President of McDade Travel in Roanoke, Virginia. She has lived in and enjoyed the Roanoke Valley for 35 years after previously residing in Montreal, Geneva, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, New York, London, and Kuwait. She was born on a farm in Poppenbüll, Germany, about two hours North of Hamburg. After leaving the farm, Heinke graduated from hotel management school in Heidelberg, Germany, after which she left Germany to work at the World’s Fair (Expo ’67) in Montreal. She speaks German and French (and English, of course) fluently.
Heinke met her future husband, Neil, in Paris in 1968. They were married in 1972 and lived in several countries before settling in Roanoke, Virginia in 1978 with their two young sons, Ian and David.
